Teleconnect, a telecommunications operator that signifies a “real alternative” to Telefonica, yesterday inaugurated an office in Madrid. The company, according to the CEO, Nicholas Bruemmer, is conscious that the Spanish islands and coast are a market segment with special characteristics and that these areas have not found a service adequate to their needs from other companies. Teleconnect is a private Spanish initiative of the Bruemmer family who hold 60% of property.
The company objectives are very ambitious, given that they aim to conquer a market quota of 5 percent in the localities where they have a geographic presence.
To do this, they have six global operators and hire the capacity of other companies such as Telefonica or Retevision. The company foresees making investments of over 16 million euros. The operator also has the support of technological partners such as Opta and Cable&Wireless.
Demografic Change
Bruemmer explained what is happening on the Spanish islands and coasts. Tourists, whether German or English, are establishing in these areas with increasing frecuency and oftn remain living there. Nine month ago, Teleconnect set up their telecommunications service network on the Costa del Sol where the same phenomenon is occurring.
The operator also foresees expansion of their presence to Alicante and the Canaries this year. Company members emphasized that they are trying to get close to their customers and adapt themselves to the characteristics of each area.
To do this, they have a team capable of communicating in several languages with their users, since one of the objectives is “to reach all possible public”. Bruemmer underline that the company has a “multicultural” nature, referring once again to the foreign community that lives on the coast and the islands.
The foreign community resident in Spain currently represents 80% of Teleconnnect customers and the remaining 20% correspond to the Spanish residential public.
Apart form these groups, the main customers is aiming at are companies, especially SMEs and independent professionals.
