The company aims to set up operations in the whole area of the Eastern Seaboard, Catalonia and the Canaries.
Nine month after Teleconnect began operations offering voice services in the area of the Costa del Sol, the landline operator has started its expansion by opening an office in Palma de Mallorca. The island signifies only the first step of a Teleconnect expansion policy that in successive stages will cover Alicante and the Canary islands (final quarter of the year), so as, by the beginning of 2002, to begin offering services in Valencia, Girona and Catalonia as well. Andalusia is, for the time being, the last area marked on the map, with the aim of operating in Almeria, Cadiz and Huelva by the end of the next year.

Teleconnect does not only have services based on landline phones but has recently completed its offer with Spacom services, with a firm implementation especially in the tourist and real estate sectors.
However, Teleconnect aims to go further in the area of Internet services. The idea is to offer not only access but also a greater range of guaranteed solutions for the SME business sector, for which they will collaborate with another telecommunications company, Ola Internet. Initially, the idea is to offer RDSI services and, when the market is more mature, offer xDSL solutions.
Additionally, Teleconnect will launch aportal with the intention of serving as a local information point to al their individual customer, while offering the possibility of electronic commerce to small and medium-sized enterprises. “The objective is to increase customer fidelity”, explained Nicholas Bruemmer, company CEO. So as to attract the connection of users to this portal, Teleconnect will set up discount offers based on navigation time. Moreover, in line with their customer consolidation strategy, the operator could market other services, such as electricity or computers.
Specifically, Teleconnect has round 10.000 customers, although Nicholas Bruemmer affirmed that growth forecasts predict increased of more than 3.500 new users monthly until the end of year.
With regard to invoicing in the current year, the company hopes to achieves of 3.400 million pesetas. This will come from the prepaid cards segment, of 35%, and business segments (both of 30%), which provide the bulk of invoicing.
For the time being, Teleconnect, with forecast investments of 3.600 million pesetas up to the year 2003 and a type A licence, has rejected, at least in the short term, the launch of its own infrastructure and has opted instead for purchase of voice minutes.
